This mixed-use building in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood enhances its community’s multifaceted culture. The development comprises five townhouses in total, including two street-facing units that stack living space atop leasable commercial real estate. The ground floor suites, which can be used as office or retail space, allow small businesses to channel the energy of nearby Adobe and Google satellite campuses. In accordance with city frontage requirements, Plural’s design activates the street with overhead weather protection, large expanses of glass, and an upper level aerial setback. Dark wood cladding articulates the lower levels, adding a note of texture that distinguishes them from the floors above. The resulting development embodies a number of Plural values, including density, walkability, and easy access to local amenities.
