Location: Seattle, WA
Type: Community Center
Designed as a community center and public health facility on an underutilized lot in Seattle's Capitol Hill Neigborhood, the pocket gym concept is oriented toward add community-benefiting programs to underutilized parcels of the city. The Capitol Hill Pocket Gym is designed to capture the site's dynamic placement between the commercial and residential portions of the neighborhood.
"Extroverted" programming elements, such as weighlifting and group classes, are concentrated in the glassy public side of the structure. More "introverted" programs, like yoga, face the residential neighborhood and are clad in a dynamic metal shingle screen.
