The East Austin Outpost adds four structures to two urban lots in the Holly Neighborhood. The design was inspired by the architectural and cultural heritage of the area as well as a building type that responds to Central Texas’ hot-humid climate. Large openings, smooth white stucco facade, and a flat roof are combined in a design that is both contextual and climatically responsive.
Heritage trees, an existing one-story home, and the client’s desire for a large, open courtyard informed the site planning and massing strategy. The outcome both connects with the neighborhood and also creates a private inner courtyard between the two lots.
